Where I’ve Been, Where I’m Going
Last Friday I turned in the revisions for The Enterprise of Death and promptly went into seclusion in the west wing. The next morning one of my friends from out of town arrived, and that evening a second small time confederate arrived. Post-edit weariness combined with entertaining manimals led to my taking an unexpected, but very relaxing, week-long holiday from the internet. It was wonderful, once I got through the rats. Now my houseguests have fled like devils at dawn and it's time to get back to work...just not right now. Considering I've been in head-down, full-bore work mode for the last month anyway I now owe quite a few of you an email, which I hope to get to in the upcoming week. In the meantime, profuse thanks to everyone for the kind words I've received, and expect this space to begin showing signs of life like a pond after the thaw--the scheduled Films of High Adventure review of Tank Girl has been postponed until next Friday, but I hope to be around a but before then.
Oh, and The Sad Tale of the Brothers Grossbart was shortlisted for the David Gemmell Morningstar Award--huge thanks to everyone who voted for me, and big congrats to my fellow short-lister/brutal competitor Amanda Downum for The Drowning City making it as well. I just started Amanda's novel but so far it is very rad and well worth checking out. Fair warning though, it will make you hungry...or maybe that's just me. Thanks again, all, I'm really flattered by the support...and will doubtless be annoying you again when voting opens for the award proper.
Hope everyone is well, and more soon!
