World Fantasy Update and Questions

I don't know if I officially mentioned it here but I am attending World Fantasy in San Jose in approximately two weeks. Molly and I will fly into SF in the morning, find our way down to San Jose, and stay in the host hotel until Sunday. We'll be doing the Last Drink Bird Head Party on Thursday evening, and I'll be busy most of Friday evening, but otherwise things are looking fairly open. One important question I had for other attendees was if anything was going on because, you know, it's frickin Halloween. We'll be missing the annual costume party we put on with our spouses back home so if some kind of excuse to dress up presents itself I'd love to hear about it.

This is my first industry convention, my previous experience being limited to the glory that was an anime convention in the early nineties (sixth grade Otakon ftw!) and a rather drunken Dragon*con a few years ago where I got to meet Adrienne Barbeau and George Romero. Dragon*con, man. I dressed as Garth Marenghi and nobody had any idea who I was. I also hiked up my shorts, pulled an old t-shirt festooned with dragons out of a box and cosplayed myself circa that fateful Otakon 94.

So WF from Thursday (Molly's birthday!) through Sunday, and I'd love to meet any and all for coffee or something sterner. Sunday we return to San Francisco, where we'll stay four nights before flying back to Colorado on the Thursday after we arrive. While in SF we'll be hitting up Borderlands, Maggie Mudd's, a live Tiger Lillies performance, and hopefully even the Sutro Baths. We'd really like to get up to Gualala and camp for a night where the river meets the ocean but time is ever scampering along so we'll have to see. A lot of my favorite SF dwellers have left the city but, again, if anyone in the Bay Area wants to try and get up for lunch, coffee, etc., lemme know and hopefully we can coordinate. We may rent a car for our time in the city but again, time will learn us...

Concert Update:
A Hawk and a Hacksaw with Damon & Naomi, Yuzo Nieto and the Hand That Rocks the Dreidel at the Hi-Dive tomorrow
The Pogues with the Detroit Cobras at the Ogden Theatre a week from tomorrow
The Tiger Lillies at the Great American Music Hall on Monday November 2
They Might Be Giants at the Gothic Theatre the night we return, November 5
