Hourra pour La Triste Histoire des Freres Grossbart!

You know what today is? The day this busts loose in France:

This is my first foreign edition--though there are German, Italian, and Polish editions on the way--and I couldn't have asked for a nicer maiden voyage into international waters. My imprint, Eclipse, has a gorgeous page set up for me and my boys, and my editor Mathieu has been a great, gracious fellow to work with.

Most of all, though, I need to thank my translator Laurent, an honorary Grossbart who was a sheer joy to work with--he poured buckets of his blood and sweat into this project...I told him that was weird, and he didn't need to add any more fluids to the manuscript, but he insisted it was metaphorical. I'm not so sure I believe him. Seriously, though, Laurent is a brilliant, amazing guy, and we had many long, edifying conversations in the course of the translation as to how best to convey this bit of nuance or that bit of profanity--I have no doubt that this edition, which is as much a product of his hard work as it is of mine, will be a helluva lot of fun even for those who have already read the book in English. I hope I'm fortunate enough to work with him again in the future, and of course with Mathieu and everyone else at Eclipse--they've done an incredible job with this book, and are deserving of more praise then I'm capable of conveying in mere words.

Merci beaucoup mes amis!
