Japan Fundraiser Conclusion and Sundry Enterprise of Death News
To begin, I want to thank everyone who donated, and also those who helped spread the word about this--we raised about two hundred USD, which is great. Even though this particular fundraiser is over, however, it's never a bad time to donate to Doctors Without Borders/Medecines Sans Frontieres--they're routinely the first on the ground when something awful happens, and are there long after the media attention has waned. They also seem far more dependable about actually putting the money they raise to good use, be it in Japan, Haiti, Afghanistan, or anywhere else they're needed. I don't want to get all NPR pledge-drive up in here, so that'll be all on this for now, but really, I'm hard pressed to think of a better organization to give to. Also, a huge, massive, epic huzzah for those who contributed:
Rebecca Katkin and Richard Meacham
Nathan Conrad
And the masked man known only as Gonzobrarian
Thanks again, all----your books are in the mail!
In slightly less important news, we're now six days out from the US launch of The Enterprise of Death, and there have been a few developments worth mentioning. First off, Jack Womack interviewed me for the Orbit Podcast--it was a lot of fun, and I think I did ok for a dude whacked out on cold medicine. Here be the podcast, wherein we discuss the Medieval mind, profanity in fantasy, the buttocks of one Colin Firth, among other topics.
I also wanted to mention that in one week I'll be doing a reading at the Tattered Cover bookstore in Denver to celebrate the publication of The Enterprise of Death. It's at 07:30 at the Colfax location, with more details here. Again, that's on Friday the 25th of March--I'll be doing another reading in Tallahassee, FL in mid-May, and another back in Colorado at the Boulder Bookstore on May 26th, and will of course post more details here regarding those events as we get a little closer to them.
Finally, I'll be posting an excerpt from The Enterprise of Death before too long, so watch this space. Thanks again, everyone, and hope the weekend is aces. Cheers!
