New Novel Announcement: Hook and Cod Sold to Orbit!

I'm thrilled to announce that my third novel has been bought by Orbit, those stellar publishers of The Sad Tale of the Brothers Grossbart and the forthcoming The Enterprise of Death. Huge thanks to Orbit, as well as my fabulous agent Sally for brokering the deal, and all my friends and associates for the encouragement as I've been putting this together. This new novel, titled Hook and Cod, takes place in the Low Countries shortly after the Saint Elizabeth Flood of 1421 devastated the region and complicated aggressions between the local warring factions of the Hoekse and the Kabeljauwse--the Hooks and the Cods.

This project was the reason for my research trip to Dordrecht over the summer, and the source of my relative absence from most things web-related for the past six months--and given that I'm up to my elbows in the manuscript at present, I expect to keep a low profile through the spring as I devote the bulk of my time and energy
to making this the best novel yet. I'm trying something very different with this one, and the exceptionally esoteric nature of the history is both complicating and energizing the project. Expect more as it develops, and please excuse my inevitable befuddlement with all things not related to obscure Dutch history for the foreseeable future. Proost!
