WFC Recovery and German Grossbart Cover Art
World Fantasy was a lot of fun--hectic as ever, often sloppy, and I shook far fewer hands than I had hoped to after looking at the membership list but so it goes at these things. Part of it is that I have such a terrible time putting names to faces and the badges this year were all on excessively long lanyards instead of the optional clasps they had last year, leading to badges being flipped the wrong way round more often than not. This, combined with my general shyness, led to many an awkward moment of my peering in vain at peoples stomachs in the hope their badge would swing around. No matter! It was fine times, and as Molly Tanzer summarized the experience quite nicely right here I don't have to, other than to mention my panel on the intersection of horror and humor actually went much better than I had feared it might, though I still fell victim to the blather-scrambles on occasion. Big thanks to my co-panelists Michael Shea, Lucy Snyder, Marcus Pelegrimas, and moderator Jason Sizemore, all of whom were friendly, fun, and, for lack of a better f, functional in the capacity of a panel on said topic.
Also, Top Secret Local Guide and TSLG's friend who TSLG still hasn't provided me contact info for throw a mean MFing party, as attested by the Valente/Hobson launch--no con is complete without taking home a new gin cocktail recipe, and this one's a doozy.
Also, there's this:
Which kind of speaks for itself. Most horrifying about the whole business is seeing how brutally I mangled my translation of the title when I included a German spelling in the introduction of the English version--it didn't look like that, I can tell you that much. Thanks, Lubbe!
